About
I am a Christian wife and mother of 5. I am an Engineering Aide in a Soils Materials Laboratory for the Roads Dept. – County of Kern. My job as a Laboratory Technician can be a rough and dirty one. I work in a male dominated position in a male dominated field. As the only woman in the Laboratory and one of only two in the field, I face special challenges. Yet, I meet those challenges head on and find my job to be both rewarding and stimulating in the academic sense. Top that off with the extra responsibilties of motherhood and housewife, I find it a struggle to meet my creative needs.
A year ago I separated from my husband and during the separation I have re- discovered the other side of myself. We are now reconciled and our marriage is better than ever, yet I still have that creative side that has been neglected for the past 15 plus years. I have recently taken painting lessons, impromptu acting lessons, and have started to teach myself piano. I have dusted off my sewing machine and among some simple current projects I hope to enroll in some upcoming quilting classes as well. I have joined an adult playgroup who will be meeting once a month to practice impromptu acting activities – a collaboration with a fellow student from the beforementioned class.
I love to cook and have started attending cooking demonstrations at Williams Sonoma, and have attended a cooking class at a local restaurant with the hopes of attending more. My sister also likes to cook and we have taken advantage of our shared interest to spend time together whenever possible. I have plans to start a live cooking vlog, and although I am by now means an expert, I hope to have fun and share my experiences and experiments with anyone interested in trying new recipes and foods! I am excited to try this out!
All of these new activities are very exciting and have sparked a new joy within me. Thats the same void I hope to fill with my new blogging endeavors. I am getting my “Creativity” on! I hope you will enjoy my journey as much as I am!
